Seasonal timing

Freezing nights run around 21 a year, few enough that well houses and pressure tanks out here are often barely insulated, which is exactly what makes the first hard night of winter a problem.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why does my pump keep clicking on and off?

Short cycling almost always points at the pressure tank rather than the pump itself. The tank holds a cushion of air, and once that cushion is gone the pump has nothing to buffer against. Left alone it wears the motor out early.

Is well water pressure supposed to swing that much?

Some swing is normal between the cut-in and cut-out settings on the pressure switch. A swing you can feel in the shower every few seconds is not, and it usually traces back to the tank, the switch or a clogged screen.

We're on a well. Do we still have a main shutoff?

Yes, though it sits differently than a city setup. There's normally a valve just past the pressure tank that isolates the house. Worth finding it now instead of at midnight.

Can a house be switched from well to public water?

In places where a public main already runs past the property, yes, and it's more common on the Summerville side than out toward Harleyville. The cost and the tap availability come from the water provider, so start with them.
