Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

How do I tell if I have polybutylene pipe?

Look for grey or blue flexible plastic, usually about half an inch, coming out of the water heater or through the crawlspace. It's distinct from white PEX. If you find it, have a plumber assess the fittings, since those are where it usually lets go.

Water pressure has dropped everywhere in the house. Where does that start?

Start at the meter and the main shutoff, because a partly closed valve is common and cheap to rule out. After that it's usually corroded galvanised pipe or a failing pressure regulator. A plumber can gauge the pressure at a hose bib to narrow it down.

Is a slow drip under the house worth calling about right away?

Yes, because crawlspace moisture doesn't dry out here and a small leak feeds rot and mould in the floor framing long before you see a bill change. Same story in Marion and Aynor. Closing the main stops it while you wait.

Does an old house need its shutoff valves replaced?

Often, yes. Gate valves that haven't been turned in twenty years seize or fail to seal when you finally need them, which is exactly the wrong moment to find out. A plumber can swap them for quarter-turn ball valves.
